While I don't envy anyone in the position of having to defend NJP from the most basic line of questioning expected of a high risk organization, I also refuse to back down just because it makes people uncomfortable to think about it.

I will however maintain civility until they decide they don't want to. I always let NJP fans dictate the tone of the discussion.

They make ALL the same arguments that Trump plan trusters on twitter made. TRS trained their audience to spot those copes but expects immunity from being noticed themselves. Then do better, duh.

I liked TRS and pushed back against the "cult" accusation previously but then it just clicked one day, they kept insisting that there's NO ONE EVER who has argued them in good faith. That no genuine arguments exist and CAN'T exist.
So if all your opposition is 100% illegitimate 100% of the time, yes. You are building a CULT

@Platinum Considering all the bridge burning and hemorrhage of listeners I'd assume has occurred it makes sense financial-like to double down on the whales.

I used to see their stuff spread out far and wide, not so much these days.

@RupertvonRipp @Platinum Until I came on poast, I’d literally never heard of them once, ever. And a lot of guys listen to podcasts at work. Sure they keep quiet, but there are enough guys on the wavelength that should at least mention it.

I think they’re just like any other content creator from that ~2014 era, they had an audience, and now they’re just watching that body dwindle year after year. I gave it a shot last year, and as an entertainment product goes it sounded akin to any other group of burned out guys still trudging on to make another show because they already quit their real jobs.

I even did a couple eps thinking I must have been missing the magic, but they just don’t have the rapport I’d want, need to add more humor or a real charmer into the fray to jazz things up.

@WashedOutGundamPilot @RupertvonRipp @Platinum Putting everything else about them aside, I think that if you are a hobbyist doing dissident stuff on the side while having an IRL normie face and steady job, you should never plan on making a living as a dissident 'thought leader'. The quality of your work will suffer if you quit/get outed and try to make what was your fun hobby your full-time paid role.

Seen it happen time and time again with creative types (writers especially)

People remember the high water mark, their heyday when they were bright eyed and well paid, without recognizing that today they’re merely going through the motions, putting in the bare minimum required to keep the patreon juice flowing.

Red Letter Media? Check them out today….it’s just tired old guys humorlessly bitching. A far cry from their famous content a decade prior.

Metokur, too. I didn’t get the allure because his new era content was a 6/10. He’s a charming enough guy, but he didn’t really add much to the freak show, he’s just point and laugh pretty sparse jokes tossed in. Compared to his earlier kangz or tranny video, it’s night and day.

Like how their Force Awakens review was 50% saying they were right about the prequels and then light critique of the actual film?

The prequels are mostly just boring. Still way better than the current trilogy and it's not even a competition

Two was terrible

Three sort of pulled it back by getting all the Jedi merc’d and having the kid killing scene.
