@RustyCrab I know you were looking for an actually good open source note taking application at some point. were you able to find a decent one?
@beardalaxy @dommymommy HI SORRY I MISSED THIS

I really didn't find one that fit my requirements unfortunately. Joplin was the closest I got. It's... tolerable enough when you adjust to the interface. The worst thing about it is that the syncing somehow takes eons despite pushing up 5 kb of text files.

What joplin does do well is pretty trivially integrate with nextcloud and also allows for E2E encryption so you can be sure that nobody's reading anything on the server side.

If you don't care about privacy much, I have used Todoist in the past. They have a good interface but what killed it for me was the desktop client. It was buggy as hell and they just didn't seem to care about getting it working correctly. The android app was fine, however. (Note that it is not open source)
@beardalaxy @dommymommy I also like that joplin allows for syncing you stuff as a markdown text file. It can be awkward to edit that on a phone but it's workable enough and it's a huge advantage when you're on a desktop

@RustyCrab @beardalaxy NO, DON’T BE SORRY!!

I’m not surprised you weren’t able to find the perfect one :cry: but thank you, I’ll see if joplin is usable. I’m used to shit UIs, and don’t mind making trade offs if it’s not gonna spy on me. I type everything into my notes lmao

as for todoist: if can’t even work right on the desktop, I won’t bother

if I ever find a good one, I will tell you!
