new enemies from the tears of the kingdom trailer!

first one looks super menacing, big three headed fire dragon?

second one kind of looks like a re-dead but a bit more fucked up

MATTHEW MERCER is voicing Ganondorf lol. It works pretty well but now I won't ever be able to unhear that xD

also i'm pretty certain this isn't zelda. has the same eye that's prevalent in the rest of the imagery of the game that many people are thinking is in relation to the Zonai. perhaps the Zonai are an ancient civilization that Hylia was born from and this is Hylia in one way or another?

wait a second hold up!!

the dragon-like creatures on the top of midna's headdress look pretty similar to the ones in the logo and seen elsewhere throughout the trailers as well as the zonai ruins.

and the back of her dress... has a very similar eye on the back of it that this new character (i'm assuming) does.

the Zonai must have some pretty big ties with the Twili. in fact, they may even be where the Twili originated from, those sorcerers the goddesses locked away in the twilight realm.

yeah this game is gonna' be nuts. we saw nintendo go pretty ham with the metroid lore in metroid dread, and i can only assume tears of the kingdom will be like that but for zelda.

here's better shots from the HD version

also, look at the dragons at the bottom of her dress as well.

In Twilight Princess, you need to collect the Tears of Light in order to revive The Spirits of Light, who watch over Hyrule's provinces (that being Lanayru, Faron, and Eldin). All of those provinces exist in Breath of the Wild still. I suspect that this will be part of the plot of Tears of the Kingdom as well, and that similar to Twilight Princess, they will help Link defeat Ganondorf.

This also gives Nintendo a good excuse to cut down the size of the main overworld from Breath of the Wild, only including those regions, while expanding plenty else up into the air. They could easily cut out 50% of the map by doing this, so that we don't have to travel the same places over and over. I'm assuming that, even if the terrain isn't different on the surface world, there will also be plenty of new challenges and interesting situations to deal with, combined with the new mechanics making them more varied as well.

Something I missed from yesterday's trailer.

There are these little dancing flames over here that look strikingly similar to spirits from Twilight Princess as well. I think Ocarina of Time also uses blue flames to show spirits but I can't quite remember.

@berkberkman i actually mean that btw this ganon voice was fucking great. the way he does these guttural sounds is great. matt has a little bit of that too.
