welp, laptop refuses to even turn on now, let alone get to the bios. i think it is well and truly dead.
thankfully it doesn't seem like the cd drive, ram, or storage were actually affected in any way. so at least i can plop the drives in my pc.
can use the ram in my alienware alpha too probably, that'll be a good little upgrade from 8gb to 16gb. so that's something. no way it'll work in a newer laptop because it's ddr3.
