cyberpunk rant
@heavens_feel @IAMAL_PHARIUS this is why, even though i love the aesthetic of all thing cyberpunk, i fucking hate the stories that come from the cyberpunk property. they all feel so bleak just for the sake of being bleak. the "no good ends" trend is retarded and that's a big part of the reason why something like last of us 2 fucking sucks also. it's not even that realistic, you have to suspend disbelief in many cases to actually believe these characters aren't acting in a way just to service a depressing ending. does anyone ACTUALLY believe ellie had a random change of heart right at the VERY END of everything that had happened? it's completely gay story writing.
david was one of the most abhorrent characters i've seen in a piece of media. edgerunners didn't make me feel sad or hollow, i just felt pissed that i had wasted my time watching it. i kind of felt the same way about cp2077, because even though i really did enjoy the game (yes, even the launch version), all of the endings are shit and invalidate a lot of your roleplaying, with the exception of maybe the one where johnny takes over V's body, but only if you were playing like that was going to be the option instead of randomly changing your mind at the end of the game.
i've not played the TTRPG, but i imagine it works a little bit better since it's more freeform and allows the players to decide their own fates to some degree. i know damn well if i were in david's position, i wouldn't have been chroming up more and more to try and get my girl to the moon as fast as possible when it could have been as easy as taking consistent jobs and laying a bit low, especially since she didn't want me doing it. dude's a fucking retard that gets everyone killed, and everyone's a retard for continuing to associate with him seeing the destructive path he was on and not taking any of their advice whatsoever. the only thing likable about the characters is their visual design, and that's why rebecca is the most beloved.
@heavens_feel @Balrog @IAMAL_PHARIUS I'd say shadowrun is cyberpunk still, just a little more slimy.
