@Curvin depends on the type of gun, the blade, and the distance at which they are pitted against each other. a knife is more lethal than a gun at close range, and depending on the gun it would be a lot harder to go through the "heavy bulletproof armor" than for a swordsman to find a weak spot in the plate.
