@hfaust only a problem for turbo normies, it's super easy to remove this shit.

@beardalaxy @hfaust yeah but is it even worth it when the so-called normie OS on top of costing money will also show you ads and will require a similar amount of configuration to arch linux or some shit?
like at this point out of the more popular choices you have to choose between:
macos: overpriced toddler unix with spyware
windows: ads and spyware that you pay for and have to remove it manually if you don't want it (or use a build made by people you don't know and have to blindly trust)
linux: volatile and requires lurking to fix shit, spyware optional

@lina @hfaust with how volatile linux is i like using windows way more, but since i know how to actually use it, it isn't so bad. when i help out people with their PCs though i'm always cringing at the default windows setup lol.

mac just doesn't speak to me, maybe it is just how often we had to use it as school with only one mouse button.

@beardalaxy @hfaust i grew used to how volatile linux is, it's even comedic a bit when something just fucking breaks and something completely esoteric like a random package update or a reboot fixes it

@lina @hfaust i do like linux, don't get me wrong, but it does have some niggles to it that i just can't get over. like, literally i cannot fix them even with help from people who know what they're talking about xD

despite it being better for games in recent years, it still doesn't match performance despite being a lighter OS and there are still things that just don't work as well. that's not really a linux problem as much as it is a developer/publisher problem, though.
