@theorytoe @paulo @MischievousuTomatosu @alex me not seeing the warning on this one is on you. How could you do this to a vet? And on Memorial Day no less!

Don’t ask me why I just blindly clicked a post marked sensitive in a thread about yaoi, I’m still not sold on this misogynistic idea that it’s on you to maintain at least a basic level of awareness of your surroundings.

@paulo @theorytoe @MischievousuTomatosu @alex You don’t use soapbox so you wouldn’t know this, but it used to be that only the media was marked sensitive, so the text was often a clear warning about the contents.

Now, the entire contents of the post are marked sensitive, and it doesn’t do cross-platform support well, so you just get “sensitive content” without any clue as to what you’re gonna get.

So I just saw “sensitive content” and blindly clicked show, and then I saw the porn, as well as the text that would have warned me that it was porn, which I didn’t see because of this UI change. That was the joke.

@paulo @dave @alex @theorytoe honestly hiding text is also smart, but I'd hide them independently

@MischievousuTomatosu @paulo @theorytoe @alex There’s a field to warn about the contents if I understand correctly, probably if you’re working with a binary yes or no for whether or not it’s sensitive, then whether that means just hiding the media or hiding the whole post depends on whether there are any contents in the text warning field.

@dave @theorytoe @paulo @alex I'd say itd be sane to do it regardless bc many wont use the content warning/subject field

@MischievousuTomatosu @theorytoe @paulo @alex If they didn’t fill out the field, then the normal post text is what gives you a clue as to whether or not you want to be clicking reveal.

But the text itself can also be sensitive, so this behavior would accommodate both.

@dave @theorytoe @paulo @alex :ablobweary: but wouldnt it be better to first show the text in case the image is morr sensitive?
@MischievousuTomatosu

That's what I'm saying. If there is no dedicated warning text, assume that the regular post text gives a clue, and show it by default.

If there is dedicated warning text, just hide the whole post and show that text.

@dave @theorytoe @MischievousuTomatosu @paulo @alex it could be a multi option thing where it asks if you want to see the text or if you want to see the text+media.

@beardalaxy @theorytoe @MischievousuTomatosu @paulo @alex That’s a better way of doing it probably. Let the user choose if they just want to see text first.
