@rasterman I heard someone theorizing that there would be an announcement of an "F-zero 99" game. If I had to wait 20 years for a new game and all we get is some shitty 99 game I'm gonna be mad.

@beardalaxy That'd be a problem. Another F-Zero is out of the question because Miyamoto hates Captain Falcon. But, were it to happen, I expect it to be a full game.

Like expecting a new Castlevania and it's a mobile card game.

On the other hand, it'd prove Nintendo remembers F-Zero is one of their IPs.

@rasterman F-zero movie would be cool too. The only future racing movie is like, speed racer.

I'd expect a port of GX if anything though, tbh. If Nintendo doesn't think they can make the series more gimmicky, at least they can port an old game and get more money out of it.

@beardalaxy I will accept that.

Apparently there's also an F-Zero AX for arcades in Japan. Seems like the A in AX is for arcade as the G in GX is for GameCube. 👀

@rasterman there's actually like 6 cabinets in the entire US. it feels totally different to play, the physics are changed. still cool playing f-zero in an arcade though.

funny enough, f-zero AX is just straight up included with GX. you can access the entire game with codes. probably because you can take your memory card with GX data on it to the arcade machine and unlock stuff.

@beardalaxy Sounds extremely cool. I read that there's a Dolphin hack or something to play AX; but haven't investigated much. Weird that they had to make another port if the game's included in GX. :thinkin:

@rasterman you may be thinking of the old times when Dolphin was a Triforce emulator too. As in, it emulated Nintendo arcade machines. Nobody really cared to work on it and it was not in a very good spot so they removed it.

@beardalaxy You're right. It was the Triforce. Bummer that they stopped working on it. I never got the chance to try it. So is there no way to emulate those games?

Does MAME work for things like that? It's been 10 years since I last used it; but it always seemed like MAME only worked for pre-2000 games.

@rasterman i'm not sure tbh, i've never once used mame. don't really care about arcade emulation too much without an actual arcade stick setup.

@beardalaxy OK.

I'm no arcade stick connoisseur, but bought the 8bitdo one and it's been great. Though, if you are, I hear there are many considerations before buying one.

@rasterman you can still try triforce games, you just have to download an old, branched version of dolphin before it was removed.
