Hmm yes, it would appear that I still don't enjoy Soulslike games xD

Lies of P certainly is the most refined one I've played, and the pacing/level design is good (so far). I just don't like how meticulous you have to be in your approach to combat. How much waiting around there is for an opening. I like my games to have a faster pace full of cancellable attacks and crazy movement.

I also find my character doing double of what I input because things take so long to actually come out that I press it again, thinking it didn't work or something. It's not that the game has input lag or anything, it's just part of the genre to have long waits like this for things. Like, I don't know why my character needs to take 3 seconds just to toggle a lantern lol.

I've died to the first boss like five times already lol. Still gonna try to beat it, but I know I won't feel any sense of satisfaction when I do. My enjoyment of games comes from the actual gameplay itself, so if I don't like the core gameplay I'm not going to suddenly get a dopamine hit when I finally get my head through the brick wall you know? xD

And before you tell me to git gud, I'm no slouch at the games I actually enjoy playing. Dante Must Die, anyone? Soulslikes just do not do it for me, especially the older ones that do legitimately have awful controls, bad performance issues, and borked level design that is all there because the game is supposed to hate you.

seems like the game relies WAY more on blocking attacks than dodging them. even if you don't perfect block the amount of health you lose isn't that bad, especially considering you can get it back almost immediately.

(i'm not playing with a controller btw fuck that, just went to this when i took a screenshot)
