It’s still funny to me that a few weeks ago a Splatoon content creator tried to gaslight people into believing that no one liked Marina because of the color of her skin, all because other people are “supposedly” throwing racist remarks at Frye when really they are just poking fun at her design.
@Echigo this is that "nobody liked toph because she's a strong girl" shit all over again 
@Minty Ironically Toph was one of the most respected and well liked characters BECAUSE she was strong. But not just strong, she was funny and crass. Her power growth was also rather reasonable (technically you could argue it was deus ex machina).
What people don't understand is that in the modern context, "strong girl" often comes attached with "shitty writing." That was not a problem in TLAB.
