The author/translator is using "that one" and all sorts of other awkwardly constructed sentences to avoid singular they unless utterly cornered and unable to do better, so I am willing to understand. And the joke regarding this nigga has so far been "We still don't know if Halara is a man or a woman. When are you going to grow a dick and ask?"

@beardalaxy @DrRyanSkelton @LittleTom The particular "Westerners" in question aren't really applying anything as much as they're trying to reinterpret, appropriate, and then finally force the Japanese media to directly support their causes. They've done the same to the Western corpus's history of using jammed or confused sex signals for comedy.
