@YeetLibs yeah honestly i've never really liked them that much. skyrim is the only game i've played with any real consistency and it's only because i've done modded playthroughs that purposefully stray quite a ways from the original game.
it's not like their games are "bad" necessarily, they're just so... bland. they don't keep me hooked whatsoever. there are SO many other games to play that are a better use of my time.
i'm interested to see how that fan-made oblivion remake turns out though. it'd be really funny if they end up making the best elder scrolls game and they're just a team of people doing it for free. i wouldn't be surprised if they keep loads more documentation than bethesda themselves do.
@YeetLibs any time i played vanilla i'd get to high hrothgar to meet with the graybeards and then stop after that. wait a few months and then make a new character and start from scratch.
i forced myself to beat the game when special edition came out and just focused on the main quest. the ending was so fucking anticlimactic. there wasn't even a credits roll. i just beat the shit out of alduin with a bunch of ghosts and then got spat back out into the overworld like nothing had happened.
i did spend 50-60 hours on a skyrim save a couple years ago though, and it's because i had an alternate start mod to make me not the dragonborn and to start somewhere completely different. had survival mods, one where i could be a bard, and one that made characters names not show up until i had talked to them. it really made me feel more immersed and interested in the world honestly. no shouts, no main story whatsoever, just kind of walking around a world and doing a bunch of side quests. was pretty fun, but i'll probably never do it again.
