@BlinkRape that's what every decompilation does to begin with. their aim is to be able to recompile the n64 rom just by using their code.

what a decomp is useful for outside of that is namely mods. if people don't have to go through these great lengths to figure out how to mod the base rom, then you can have a lot more mods that way. editing the decompiled code is a million times easier, especially for a game like starfox 64 that doesn't have any existing modding tools whatsoever.

it also opens the gate for ports to be made to other platforms. normally, the people doing the decompiling aren't the ones to port it, that's done by separate people who just want to port the game.

@BlinkRape it would take an extremely long time for me to figure out how to make a mod where the arwing moves 30% faster through a level, for instance. with this though, all i have to do is find the function in the decompiled C code and change the variable. might not be THAT easy but you know what i mean. way easier than looking through the RAM and trying to figure out what values i need to plug in to a gameshark code.
