Watching these retards argue over which slop looks better is like watching drug addicts argue over whether meth or fentanyl is better.

@Kyonko802 video game graphics that are going for realism will never be the "best looking game ever." art style is what makes a game's graphics last, and that's why so many are so nostalgic for the 16-bit era graphics because the art on display in a lot of those games was absolutely stunning. and there's a reason why so many indie horror games love using the ps1 aesthetic.

this intense focus on realism is part of what balloons video game budgets.

i've NEVER seen a game have water that looks as good as mario sunshine's does and that game is on the FUCKING GAMECUBE.

@beardalaxy @Kyonko802 I unironically think CS2 and Genshin Impact are the most graphically impressive games out right now. Genshin because it's optimized to run on XiaoDong Pu Pu Panda Ultra Budget Phone hardware and still look good, and CS2 because it has modern graphics optimized well enough to run on mid-tier hardware and still be a competitive game

@Spingebill @Kyonko802 genshin is one of those games that sort of copied breath of the wild's look, but i think it does it pretty well and yeah, it's optimized too.

cs2 is actually super pretty. those fog effects are so satisfying. i love the lighting too. it's all very visually striking and, most importantly, doesn't look like an unreal store asset flip.
