Man from the North has mind blown in Argentine pizza shop watching how a fugazzetta is made and calls into question whether it's Italian. :reeEEEE:

Granted, I only ever knew the word "fugazza" which turns out to be Genoese for what the rest of the world knows as "focaccia", word I only learnt when I started watching Kitchen Nightmares.

It was the Genoese immigrants who brought the recipe here, hence why that's the word we use.

Anyway, I hate onions. :0260: 🧅
@ChristiJunior I never chose to hate onions; it just happened.

The taste, the smell, the texture. Even before learning that they contain sulphur compounds, hence the bad breath and body odour they impart on those who eat them.

To me, onions on anything have always been as appealing as pineapple on pizza. :drake_dislike:
@Rasterman @ChristiJunior on one hand glad we can all agree pineapple on pizza is dosheit BUT on the other christ almighty dude IMAGINE having such a shit taste You dislike onions :keku:

@rlier23 @ChristiJunior @rasterman I like onions I guess. They're okay. But pineapple on pizza? SSS-tier pizza topping. Pepperoni and pineapple is my go-to and I will DIE on that hill. Better than olive and sausage. Mushrooms are pretty good on pizza too, not enough people like getting shroom za either.

@beardalaxy @rlier23 @ChristiJunior @Rasterman Aslo anchovies are over-hated, i blame media for perpetuating this meme that anchovies as the worse topping. The thing is you really need a few anchovies on a pizza to favor the entire thing. If your putting them on like pepperonis your doing it. Personally i mix anchovies with sardines when i make pizza and add some ricotta.

@LodedDiaper @ChristiJunior @rasterman @rlier23 i haven't had them on pizza before, but i've had them by themselves and i'm not particularly fond of them so i haven't tried them on pizza, naturally.

@beardalaxy @LodedDiaper @ChristiJunior @Rasterman @rlier23 On pizza, anchovies practically melt into the cheese/sauce and add a touch of saltiness and umami. Basically it's like a solid form of garum.
@beardalaxy @ChristiJunior @Rasterman @LodedDiaper @rlier23

Garum is a sauce the ancient Romans made from fermented fish. They used it in almost all their dishes.

This is how you make it: https://invidious.varis.social/watch?v=ICZww0DtQKk
@LoliHat @beardalaxy @ChristiJunior @LodedDiaper @Rasterman @rlier23 it's not to dissimilar to some Asian fish oil sauces if your curious to the taste, though much sharper, otherwise making your own garum is... unpleasant.
