@LittleTom TotK is just going "hey this is a cool gimmick" and by the time you're 30 hours in you have exhausted the potential of said gimmick. Then they tacked on a story that may or may not have been written by a third party. It's crazy because I still enjoyed playing most of it, but what I didn't enjoy about it totally overrides everything else. I can't see myself ever going back to it like I can with BotW, WW, or OoT.
Fujibayashi(?), the director of the game, doesn't even know where all the ancient tech went. It just disappeared. And nobody in Hyrule cares. Except that's not even true because Robbie's lab still has a dead guardian on it. The narrative sucks, the cool game design doesn't last for the whole game the new areas they added quickly grow stale/annoying (Hyrule is still the most interesting part of the game). There were about 100 ways to make the game better but they had their vision so focused on these gimmicks that they thought would carry the game and now nobody will remember anything about the game years later other than crucifying koroks and building dick rockets.
