I find it weird how people jump to defend malpractice doctors. I think that they should be paid better and serve jail time for gross negligence. A counterargument I frequently hear is that in this situation nobody would want to be a doctor, as they would risk facing jail time for something that was a genuine mistake.
Now ask the same person who made this argument about cops. Suddenly they believe that cops should serve time in jail for wounding/killing an innocent person. In reality a part of being a cop is, dealing with aggressive and armed junkies who will stab you if you're not careful.
Almost as if everyone should be responsible for the damage they cause regardless of their profession...
