I don't understand the point of any discussion about the fediverse and its relation with privacy.

This is a microblogging platform. Isn't everything posted public information and public discourse? It's not really an invasion of privacy if someone saves stuff you just casually throw into the ether.

If you want to have private conversations this is not the place for that, you should just use something like an instant messenger instead?
