I saw a while ago someone talking about how anti-semities could easily become highly pro-semitic, and this is very related.

Allegedly, he invited all the homeless people to a banquet, locked them inside the building, then set it on fire. Really makes sense why people called him a dragon. Someone to be feared, but also revered and respected.
