> From the Karabiner 31 to the snuff machine
> Instead of handing over old Karabiner 31s to a collection campaign, Sandro Bohn converted some of these weapons into snuff machines. Although the guns no longer fire anything (except tobacco), the legal requirements still have to be met.
> Text and photos: László Tolvaj
> The first inquiries came from colleagues. Sandro Bohn, an enthusiastic sports shooter and craftsman, was asked to build his friends a snuff machine, i.e. a thing that would somehow mechanically transport the tobacco into the nasal cavity. The order was accepted, but only on the condition that the machine had to have something to do with a weapon.
> Bohn thought about a weapon-snuff machine combination and initially came up with an air pistol solution. Somehow, however, he couldn't get used to the idea of putting such a modern thing on his nose, and he had a more rustic version in mind. His thoughts then turned to the carbine, which with its 26 mm spring travel seemed predestined to deliver a shot into the nasal cavity. He soon started working on the first prototype. After a lot of manual work with the conventional milling/lathe and an attempt with a short version without a stock and short barrel, a usable model was created. This increased his colleagues' interest in the device. There were to be several more snuff machines, and since such conversions were carried out after a special permit, production was transferred to B&T AG in Thun for firearms law reasons. The conversion can be ordered from the BST shop and costs CHF 295. You must bring your own carbine.
> The hammer spring is tensioned at the top left, the two plungers are in the rear position. At the top, the plungers are at the very front, the tobacco charge has been fired.
> The creator of the snuff machine has immortalized himself on the attachment with Design by B05A. To convert, the bolt had to be drilled out so that the transmission rod could reach in. There is a bushing in the cartridge chamber, so that the gun can no longer fire.
> The final version of the snuff machine retained the piston, as too much damage could have been done with the cut version.
> The attachment is a CNC-elasticated part and has the manufacturer's logo on it.
> After filling the two holes, the pinch is shot into the nose using the trigger (breathe in deeply). A weapons contract is required for the final sale (no copy to the weapons office).

>lthough the guns no longer fire anything (except tobacco),
I remember the 90s so this is a much more fearsome weapon than a gun.
@kakafarm @prettygood @sapphire absolute peak of anti-smoking campaigns, including full-page psychedelic comics with the message
>Tobacco is WACKO ((((if you're a teen))))
@sapphire @kakafarm @prettygood yep. These days, not only is it weird to not get high on the regular, but saying that you don't get high will slow down your security clearance investigation because the investigator will believe that you're lying.

Also, although every single smoker in the 90s agreed that it wasn't healthy, today weed is SAFE and EFFECTIVE, ok?

@apropos @kakafarm @sapphire @prettygood I don't think eating it or using it in other medicinal or industrial ways is bad at all, but smoking it is definitely unsafe.

@beardalaxy @apropos @kakafarm @prettygood no more unsafe than breathing any other smoke though

smoking weed isn't bad, breathing smoke is
