@graf in high school had a friend that was, charitably, not very smart and he found one of these where you do a bunch of calculations and it comes up missing 1 dollar, and he was convinced this was proof that "math is wrong"
@sun me but literally the entire 8th grade finding out that 1/3 = 0.333 and 3/3 = 0.999

Same reason you can round π to 3 in a pinch.
