@coolboymew @VD15 @Ace66062 digital foundry seem to think it'll have around the power of a base ps4 when docked, but with how well nintendo typically optimizes games and newer architecture i can imagine it'll perform pretty well. but yeah, portable mode is going to need some serious help if they want the battery to last a reasonable amount of time.

my main hopes are
1) that it has better joysticks, fuck the joycons
2) that it can be hacked, and for that reason i'm going to buy it as soon as possible and keep it offline for as long as possible lol

i got the hackable switch 1, and then just bought every game anyways and never bothered hacking it. whats the point? some shitty emulators that run worse than steam deck or my own phone? theres only a handful of exclusives and i want physical copies anyways. if i really dont want to pay, emulators are already fairly mature

As said, it's really hard to judge. Custom chip, terraflops means nothing anymore apparently. New technologies on the chip apparently accounts for a LOT of power gain and the chip apparently has that over the PS4 Pro. Apparently the CPU will be no slouch either. DLSS will take care of any shortcomings

@coolboymew @beardalaxy @Ace66062 Is it still a tegra GPU? If so, it might actually ship with DLSS4 which could be nuts, even if I dislike the technology
