@sendpaws gamers are older now and have a lot more disposable income they can spend on nicer stuff. people who still own consoles are either children or they just don't want to deal with all the pc stuff. there is a smaller niche of people who still just like collecting physical media too and you can only get that from consoles.

@beardalaxy >have a lot more disposable income
not when you're putting the fries in the bag and worried about if the bus will get there on time.

@beardalaxy also went to a FGC meetup at the local arcade literally everyone was on PS and some people were even bringing theirs over lol
Maybe a few people on laptops but one of them was literally on a fucking X220 and he wasn't one of the Linux Enjoyers either he was just broke.

@sendpaws yeah fgc all use consoles for local because it is one platform that they optimized for and there is no chance for things to go wrong or for anything to be modded. or at least, the chances go down a lot.

@beardalaxy given how many Top Players on the PC keep getting outed for cheating I think you might be seeing it with other genres too

It's also why Linux will never be mainstream once people find out that they can't play Apex on it, or why Call of Duty has a reputation of "PC players fucking cheat bro".

@sendpaws @beardalaxy
FGC events run on consoles because they're more portable and have a plug-and-play interface, or at least they used to. Laptops running CCCaster and Mugen at 59 FPS have always been there too.

Dunno how serious you're being about the comparison of high-end/inflated GPU prices to console prices given that PC has become the most popular platform in the industry over the last ~10 years, whereas the number of people who actually buy consoles has remained roughly static. Prices are insane, yeah, but a PC built when prices were sane will still run most modern games well enough and emulate retro games well.

If your point is "dumb people who throw money at the screen will throw money at consoles because they're $20 cheaper," then I agree, I suppose.

not optimized

A pile of shit plugins on top of Unity.

For Stalker, yeah. But it seems to be about half/half in the industry now. Same difference, though at least you can write C++ in Unreal.

@sendpaws @beardalaxy
Not to defend the industry, but what did you expect from a UE game at 4K resolution?

@Hephaestic @beardalaxy yeah that's the thing I don't care about new games ngl I just wanna run certain bloatware :V

@sendpaws you have more disposable income as an adult than you do as a kid where you have to justify to your parents to buy you games, is what i mean. as an adult you can allocate your own money to that if you want.
