Why do erotic VNs always end up having really good stories and likeable characters? Seriously, you start playing them for the porn then you get SUCKED IN to the plot.
@beardalaxy I think it's two major factors.
1. The porn gets you a bare minimal amount of investment into the story long enough for it to marinate.
2. To create really good porn you effectively need to create an actually good story so those two go hand in hand and naturally culminate in an actually good story.
I hate to admit it but there have been some cases where I'm legitimately invested in the story and don't care about the porn, it's how it is.
3. I think because they just think about how they're just trying to create a kinda interesting storyline for porn, they're not actually thinking about creating a good or profound story which ends up letting them be a lot more creative which normally results in a better told story because it doesn't feel as forced or awkward it feels a lot more natural without them realizing it.
It's like how if you pay attention to yourself writing a bike you do worst where if you don't think about it at all you do perfectly.
