hot take?
the people who have been paying artists this whole time are largely not the same people who like looking at AI art.
i think the main thing that AI art changes for artists is discoverability because it'll be harder to be noticed through the slop.
@beardalaxy its just obnoxious. I dont find the AI highlight funny or interesting after a few images its all derivative garbage. AI used to create insanely derivative and boring shit 99% of the time yet if you point this out the same people who whine about marvel or video games being slop sperg out.

@KaiserKitty i honestly think AI art is just another round of trends like anything else on the internet. you still have real art trends all the time too.
@beardalaxy AI art is just inherently more derivative and can only converge on the lowest common denominator it is how ML learning works. It works by minimizing error. Nothing great or even good has been made by just minimizing error and following the rules. You eventually need to make a subjective choice which has the possibility of alienating people. An AI cant do that. Plus I dont like the idea of humans becoming things which just tell other autonomous units what to do. Since it hands control away from the user and to the program. My hands cant suddenly decide what im drawing doesnt fit the CoC and suddenly cease up.
