@beardalaxy@gameliberty.club There are indeed some damn good USB capture cards nowadays. I always avoided the USB ones in the past because they were jank but I was surprised by the USB3 capture device that came with my retro monitor. The monitor uses an old resolution that my Elgato internal capture card doesn't recognize (1280x1024), which I think is retarded for a card that costs over $200. But it's why I opted to get the USB3 add-on since I was warned about it beforehand by the manufacturer of the monitor. I'm sure there would be a difference if I was doing 4k captures but the USB3 device seems just as good as the Elgato for capturing old games footage. Maybe I'm simplistic and don't notice. There is also no lag, which surprised me the most for a device under $50. Meaning I could play the games from just looking at OBS.
This one is branded by the company that made my retro monitor and sadly they don't sell it as a standalone unit (they should since it's a beast!) but someone had asked me for the internals specs and we found out it's made by a company named Macrosilicon. So it's definitely possible to get a really good one that is plug and play for under $50. Avermedia sells a mini one in the $70 range but it's more like a box shaped. Somehow it's only $24 at my local Microcenter but they don't ship it, so the price can be far lower on sale.
