stellar blade might be a little too souls-aligned for me to enjoy it, but it's just teetering on that edge. the autosaves and fast combat helps but there is still so much waiting around for enemies to do stuff and missing parries/dodges is still pretty punishing with those long combo strings you can't break out of. something i don't like in games much is when the enemies don't seem to react to you hitting them as much as the inverse and i can definitely feel that here. there are even enemies that lurk behind walls you can't see who pop up and get cheap shots on you. i'll keep playing for now, but i feel an impending doom that i'll reach a point where it gets to be a little too much.

also holy FUCK is there a lot of yellow paint. i don't think i've seen anybody mention this. is everyone really so distracted by eve's ass that they don't see it? this is normally a huge criticism for games and it's so annoyingly garish i can't help but notice it. to make matters worse they even have a scan button that will highlight these parts even more, as if you couldn't tell already.

GEE I WONDER WHERE I GO? this is all within like a 5 minute stretch btw, there is soooo much more.

@beardalaxy
I think it is known for being slop, and yes, people just play for the ass.
@beardalaxy
This game was one of the most forced attempts at riding the countercultural wave I've ever seen, and if games were taken seriously then people would write down everything it did in order to avoid doing it again.
It was a PS5 exclusive that wasn't going to cave to censorship, until it did cave to censorship, and was then no longer a PS5 exclusive. The complete opposite of something passionate like Nier Atomata.

@Hephaestic there are no true ps exclusives anymore. did you play this or are you just talking about what you observed?
i do hate how they censored some stuff and then said it was always the intent. especially the gore, honestly.

@beardalaxy
I haven't played it since the marketing showed me how artificial it all was. A review of it from a guy I trust showed that it's another entry in the modern "press X to parry everything" school of combat design, which makes it very shallow and thus unappealing.
