According to Raimi and Nemcro, the mall Goths are coming back
@coolboymew city malls
(I wouldn't know, I don't go to the mall)
@gin-nigr

>I don't go to the mall

Exactly, 90% of them kinda died
@coolboymew @gin-nigr My local mall is kinda dying off again too. Any successful stores that were ther are moving out and getting larger locations outside of the mall. The person who owns it charges too high on rents so it's hard to fill it with tenants They could get tenants and traffic in those places if they didn't charge high rents sadly but a lot of it is due to politicians and bad mismanagement of money so they jack up taxes so in turn rents go up and property owners want overheat / profit so everyone gets the shiv.
@ooignignoktoo @gin-nigr So sad. Where my parents lived, there used to be two malls. One is basically completely dead and has been for decades now. The other one, they destroyed the mall part of it so it's just a collection of stores now

Another one that was a bit farther is barely holding on

Another part of the city where there was two big malls, one is still going, another destroyed the interior front part, which basically completely fucked over the inner mall part to such level I didn't even know it still existed today, but it does, and it's closing

The big big mall is still going, but store variety has gone down a crazy amount and there's basically nothing to see anymore
@coolboymew @gin-nigr We got 2 malls but one is a indoor mall from the late 70's but it's gone way down hills since the 2008 recession. I used to go in there in the 2000s and it was a nice place. Had an arcade, pizza joint, toy store, book store, spencers , hot topic, EB games. I mostly went for the arcade , pizza joint and eb games.

The strip mall is kinda in rough shape too the only tenants that have seemed to last there is a chinese restaurant that's been around since I was a kid ( food is good atleast ) and a movie theater.

Only thing the mall has now that i even care about is a retro game store and their prices on anything pre ps3/xbox 360 are a ripoff. I still go there for newer stuff though to window shop from time to time. I haven't been there for awhile but I need to go there at somepoint to get some old ps2 games resurfaced that I'm tempted to resell. I got a bunch of old game stuff a year ago for free out of someone's attic and i'm tired of sitting on it and I kinda want to unload it to declutter
@ooignignoktoo @gin-nigr The death of the video rental store just made these places even more miserable
@coolboymew @gin-nigr My childhood rental store got turned into a hollistic food / medicine store after it closed in the late 2000's.
Follow

@ooignignoktoo @coolboymew @gin-nigr mine is now a pub. I haven't been there because they said they don't have music.

@ooignignoktoo @coolboymew @gin-nigr all the malls around me are still open but they cut back a lot. It's mostly local stores in them. They have also moved the business model so they use a lot of the floor space for things like public events. Like art exhibits. Still a fun place to go to just to see all the weird stuff people are selling.

@beardalaxy @coolboymew @gin-nigr

My mall still has one of the original anchor stores J.C Penney but I think it's out the door in the next 1-3 years I think they had recently filed for bankrupcy
