@slipgate @sendpaws i was trying to take a picture of a check for a mobile deposit through my bank app tonight. as soon as i took the picture it had to reload the whole ass bank app and that picture just got tossed out. happens with stuff like discord and husky too.

the other day i was trying to watch twitch and track my uber at the same time and it caused my phone to flush everything. then, i was listening to music and had the AUDACITY to browse fedi while i was doing it and it killed my music. basically anything that goes into the background gets shafted.

it sucks too when i'm going back and forth between fedi and my browser to look up stuff or download photos and the apps have to reload every single time i switch.

i don't know if this is because of a relatively recent android update or if apps just need more RAM nowadays or something but it's AWFUL.

@slipgate @sendpaws stock. I found a setting that enables a 4gb page file and that seems to have smoothed over some things for now, but I did already get a new phone that's coming tomorrow with 8gb of ram so I'm sure that will be just fine. I'm giving this phone to my friend though since he's still on a 3gb phone. It's a galaxy s9 I think. So if a custom rom would help increase performance without removing any features he'd use maybe it would be good to help him set that up. I haven't ever done anything like that so I honestly don't know. I think what stopped me from doing it a few years ago was that Uber wouldn't work and I unfortunately need that.
