Lots of very niche girls here, some of which actually go into the poll with a decent lead in terms of points, so this could be quite the close competition. Also, Blue Archive truly be looking like Season 1 Touhou, with a whopping 8 (!!) reps in the Qualifier Poll, and Neru being one of the most strongly positioned girls with her 5 points. Since there’s a 4 girl franchise cap in terms of entering the tournament, some tactical voting might be advisable – or maybe not, the Qualifier Poll roster is absolutely massive, and you’ll have 10 votes to drop, so there’s nothing stopping BA fans from cunnymaxing (well, Asuna isn’t exactly cunny, but still…).
Speaking of Touhou, this feels absolutely surreal, Holy Great Replacement Batman! Not a single Touhou made it into the Qualifying Poll, let alone the main tournament. Despite their 2024 struggles, I personally thought the Toehoes would for sure threaten to break the franchise cap, but it seems like the Cunny Archive craze on Fedi has completely rendered the bullet hell franchise yesterday’s news. However, I WILL give Touhou one last chance to redeem itself, because now it’s time for my Wild Card picks:

Reimu Hakurei (Touhou) – is Touhou cooked, or is it a sleeping giant waiting crush the doubters? If any girl can bring back the franchise’s glory days, it will be its genocidal protagonist Reimu, our Season 1 semifinalist and the very face of Touhou. Remilia and Patchouli outright won Season 1’s Qualifier Poll – how will the shrine maiden fare?

Ciel (Tsukihime) – months ago I saw some posts about this one Redditor who had a giant hateboner for Ciel for supposedly being a bigoted, intolerant Christian, and I instantly knew I HAD to give her a chance in the #BestVidyaGirlContest. I won’t promise that every vote for Ciel will kill a Redditor, but it should at least give one of those faggots a nosebleed.

Ashley "Leyley" Graves (The Coffin of Andy and Leyley) – how the hell has this girl not gotten nominated yet? Is Fedi really just all talk when it comes to Sister-Fucking? I think it’s time to find out if this girl was just a flavor of the month character, or if the seductive sister has stood the test of time.

2B (Nier: Automata) – speaking of “how the fuck did this girl not get nominated” characters, 2B didn’t get any love in the Nomination thread! Was this simply tactical voting gone horribly wrong, or has the android girl truly fallen this far? Interestingly, fellow Nier: Automata girl A2 *did* get nominated, so that will be a duel to watch out for in the poll.

Suzuran (Arknights) – this will be a first, a Wild Card who actually DID get nominated, but failed to make it into the Qualifier Poll because of too few points. However, given how admirably Lappland performed last year, and Our Light winning Fedi’s Arknights Tournament, I think she deserves her shot in the poll. Also, unlike the other Wild Card picks Suzuran will take with her the 1 point she got from the Nominations Thread, so while she’ll be at a disadvantage, it will be less than that of the other Wild Cards.

Malon (Zelda: Ocarina of Time) – Malon looked incredible during last year’s tournament, and actually more than earned a spot in the current tournament, so making her a Wild Card was the least I could do.

Kat (Gravity Rush) – the one PlayStation girl even I can’t hate, I think it’s about time Kat got a chance to show to strut her stuff, and have Fedi’s surprisingly numerous Vita fans put their votes where their mouth is.

Jill Valentine (Resident Evil) - Jill is actually a girl who boasts a very respectable tournament history in the GameFAQs Character Battles, which this tournament is modeled after, and where the power level is generally much higher due to all the popular male characters participating. I know I keep giving Capcom girls Wild Card slots (3 of them got picked last year), but Jill really seems tremendously worthy of this opportunity.

As a reminder, all the Wild Cards (except for Suzuran) will go into the Qualifier Poll with 0 points, so they will have to really work their asses off to qualify for the main tournament. That said, if they’re popular enough they should definitely manage to pull it off.

@ChristiJunior what determines whether a girl goes into the qualifying poll or the main tournament? just the amount of votes?

it seems like the vast majority of the posts on the nomination did not federate over here lol.

i think a lot of people are voting/nominating much more niche waifus overall this time around. girls like ashley graves are just too powerful.

@beardalaxy The amount of points - Krystal got 8 points, Rachel Alucard and Neptune got 6 points each, no other girl got more than 5 points, and I didn't want more than 3 girls directly qualifying anyway.

If gameliberty is having Federation issues you'll definitely want to talk to your admin about it, it might affect the tournament polls too.

@ChristiJunior oh and then the other girls going directly into the tournament are from the finalists of the other tournaments right?

idk maybe it did federate, i'm looking at it now and there are much more posts than the last time i checked.

as far as the polls go i believe it's been an issue with activitypub for a while that poll results don't work too well, you have to view it on the originating instance to get the actual results. i'm sure you know that though.

@beardalaxy Yeah, I know about poll results often not federating, that's why I directly link the DRC poll and give running updates during tournament polls.
