@EdBoatConnoisseur @bleedingphoenix @theorytoe Most women in games are unremarkable. But gacha's gimmick is that they create female characters that are specifically made to be appealing and thus spend money on to pull. This is why they dominate the nominations.

Maybe one should ask why so few normal vidya women aren't that memorable.

Most games people play and then move on even if they have amazing characters. Gacha shit is designed to get you addicted and suck your money away so the girls will of course stick in your mind and proliferate more.

there's games like the drakenguard series which gameplay wise arepretty fucking bad but people still like them for the story/narrative.

same could be said about a LOT of rpgs, they may not be the most engaging or shinning examples when it comes to the gameplay aspect but they make up for it with other things like story, music, characters, etc.

i remember when i was playing dq11, the story is fun, i liked the characters but 90% of the fights in that game were a breeze and you could barely call it a game with how easy it was outside some bossfights yet i would not disqualify dq11 as a game because it still has that gameplay aspect

same goes for a lot of these gachas

@rlier23 @theorytoe @beardalaxy @EdBoatConnoisseur @wgiwf why would someone envy gacha players? the games are free, I've played several of them; I still don't think they qualify. people complain already about how mobile games are saturating the market, and most gachas are mobile games or adjacent, so how is this any different? just because there are bad games doesn't mean we start respecting Subway Surfers.

also I have not said anything about coomers in this thread, while you have twice. I'm going to discount that as massive projection. gachas should be their own thing, they are not serious attempts at games and it is not embarrassing to like them regardless of that fact.
