@LittleTom @beardalaxy Total drift-2-win death. Mario kart is one of the few big racing games that come out now and it's always the samish, mid, drift to win slop.

@MiaElk @beardalaxy MKWorld isn't really like that. It's got a lot more going on and regular steering is often good. The only reasons the game gets dumped on is 1. Nintendo is being insanely retarded by not allowing you to play just the tracks without jumping in player hosted lobbies (discord mandatory basically) and 2. you have to buy a switch 2 to play it.

@LittleTom @MiaElk the balancing is absolute trash too, 24 racers is way too much. you can go from 1st place to 12th back to 1st only to get by a second blue shell to put you back to 20th all in the span of like 1 minute.

that plus the fact that i can't just play normal races or more varied knockout tours is why i'm not playing online. the vast majority of my time spent playing that game was grinding out all the offline cups.

@beardalaxy @MiaElk Yeah 24 is too much that is true. I don't think the item balancing is even bad by series standards. 24 racers with Mario Kart items just makes it too easy to get chain raped.

@LittleTom @MiaElk well, and the tracks are so wide that there aren't that many places where you can truly get fucked because of a lack of skill, so when you're playing online everybody travels together in a pretty tight pack. it's absolute chaos. i think somebody at nintendo thought that "chaos = fun" and that's how we ended up with this.

and then there are the menus, which are some of the WORST menus i've seen period.

the core gameplay is really good, but the game is super flawed.

@LittleTom @beardalaxy I am gonna be the one to say that the whole item deal has been outdone by some other racing games. XGRA was good racing and powerups
