ROUND 1, MATCH 13 PRE-GAME ANALYSIS
7th Seed Krystal (Star Fox) VS 26th Seed Hoshimi Miyabi (Zenless Zone Zero)
Will this be an Unlucky match for the high seed? Like Rachel Alucard and Neptune, Krystal was spared the grueling Qualifier Poll, and thus goes into the tournament quite untested. She’s also our first true Furry competitor, which might spell trouble for her, considering how the Furry fandom used to be perhaps the most reviled group on the internet until trannies reminded everybody of what TRUE depravity looks like. That said, Krystal does boast a really appealing design (there’s a reason people say that “Everybody is Furry for Krystal”), strong name recognition AND nostalgia appeal (Star Fox Adventures was the last game Rare game before they were ruined by Microsoft). Hell, given Fedi’s disdain for modern non-Gacha games, the dormant state of the Star Fox franchise might actually be another point in Krystal’s favor!
However, I do think Krystal was very unfortunate to go up against a Fluffy Eared girl in round 1, since those are arguably just more palatable and Normie-friendly Furries. I won’t pretend to know a lot about Hoshimi Miyabi, just that Zenless Zone Zero is the hot new Gacha game that came out just 1 year ago, making Miyabi quite the fresh face. Going by Gelbooru art she also appears to easily be one of the most popular ZZZ girls, maybe even THE most popular, boasting more pictures than the likes of Belle and Wise.
Honestly, I could easily see this match coming down to anti-voting, considering how anti-Gacha voting has been an important factor in the past, while anti-Furry sentiment seems widespread on Fedi. Then again, in a match starring two newcomers, from two hitherto unrepresented franchises, one would be well-advised to expect the unexpected.
