@KisekiTemiro sh2 remake was... Okay. They missed the mark in a lot of places and the pacing was all fucked because they doubled the length. If I hadn't played the original I would have thought it was a decent game.
Silent Hill f looks like something COMPLETELY different. Silent Hill in name only. SHINO.
@LittleTom Right you are, the fixed camera like most other parts of og SH games is entirely unique to the series but cant be replicated these days cause people just wont play it if it had them, fixed cameras and tank controls being totally unacceptable to a modern video game player (I've watched a lot of people play old sh games and its always the things they complain about the most)
@beardalaxy Exactly the problem, OG silent hill games have a very unique quality to them, they make you feel like crap to play them, between the controls, the atmosphere, the story and characters, you're meant to feel bad playing them and you cant make a game nowadays that makes the player feel bad to play. It simply wont fly
So the remake is just a harshly sanded down version for modern audiences and without the perspective of the original the new games are more or less fine I guess
@KisekiTemiro honestly, i don't think sh2/sh3 are all that hard to play. they have the option to turn off tank controls. they play just fine.
@beardalaxy They arent hard to play no, but they're meant to make you feel "off" while playing, pretty much all of sh2 and 3 are designed in a way to throw you off while playing, is what im trying to say
@KisekiTemiro yeah most newer games don't quite get that lynchian horror down well.
@beardalaxy I dont think ANYTHING can do lynch horror well honestly lol
I also think making a Silent Hill game without fixed camera angles is really hard...like the camera carried so much of the weight when it came to making these games actually scary and disturbing. I think Resident Evil can get away with it because action was always more of the focus.
