First results are in, Sanae Takaichi won Hokkaido with 40%.
This is only the party member vote, not a final decision (the Diet will vote this afternoon, probably different from the popular vote) but its a good start.
@beardalaxy The LDP leadership race is more or less deciding the replacement Prime Minister of Japan. Kobayashi is being propped up by the pro-globalist types, Takaishi is a more conservative candidate coming from Shinzo Abe's school of politics.
The reality is, any LDP politician is kind of shit, and Takaichi has some godawful takes on how to run the country. But at this stage, "not being an all-out globalist dickrider" is the best outcome for a new Japanese PM.
Also, if Japan's first female Prime Minister turns out to be an anti-progressive conservative, that'll be a barrel of laughs and I can only image the seething and/or malding from the progressives if it happens.
