original game, sequel, sequel, sequel, sequel.

there really needed to be more variation in this list.

no nomination for silent hill f? dk bananza? no mario kart world? all of these games have amazing art direction, regardless of what you think about the games in general.

@beardalaxy >complains about sequels of newer games making the list
>wants mario kart 213 on it
what

@WandererUber the point of complaining about sequels is that they all have the exact same art direction as the previous game. mario kart world is a sequel but it's in a different art style.

@beardalaxy @WandererUber I see what you mean but tbf Silksong's visuals are a substantial improvement over Hollow Knight's and insanely impressive (IMO) for a small team.
It's also true that Mario Kart World is in many ways a big step up over 8 in terms of visuals, the characters and their animations look amazing. But it's on the new Nintendo and they made some asinine decisions about both ranked and single player gameplay structure so people will chimp out if you praise anything about it.

@LittleTom @WandererUber i really hate how the online for mario kart world turned out, and the open world is empty and gay. 24 player races may have been a mistake. the art is awesome though, i love the way the game feels to play, a lot of the courses are so well made (which is why online feels so bad since you never get to play them), and the soundtrack is full of remixes but there are so many of them and they're so good.

chimping out about video games seems to be the default these days it seems...

@beardalaxy @LittleTom @WandererUber >chimping out about video games seems to be the default these days it seems...

I mean, that's because video games aren't good anymore and the devs love to use their players as guinea pigs (see: CoD/AAA games and SBMM/EOMM)

@sendpaws @LittleTom @WandererUber there is a lot of absolute slop, that's for sure. but there are also a lot of actually pretty good games that just have like 1 or 2 things wrong with them but people latch onto those things and all the sudden the entire game is complete trash. usually these people aren't even playing the games either they're just getting their opinion from somebody else, whether it is a complete rando on the internet or some content creator that only ever really gets mad at shit.

i think it's because it's addicting and cool to be mad at things.

@beardalaxy @LittleTom @WandererUber oh 100% for sure, I genuinely feel the shift from "10/10 GOTY" journalists to the Pissed Jose style of reviewer made shit get worse.

You'll never see the Act Man ever develop his own sick FPS but you'll see him hate play CoD yearly after telling you guys he's done with the series.

@beardalaxy @sendpaws @LittleTom @WandererUber > i think it's because it's addicting and cool to be mad at things.

Yeah. There’s a lot wrong with modern gaming to be sure but it must be dreadfully boring to be so negative all the time.
