I want to forgive Metroid Prime 4 for the mostly empty desert. It's not like this is an open world game or something it's just a big connecting area.


On the other hand tho, Nintendo literally owns Monolith Soft. I know they can do it right, so we have to now question why they chose not to do it right

@dielan something I've noticed for a while in video games now is that there has been an increasingly alarming trend of big open spaces with nothing to do in them, and the devs know there is nothing to do there so they give you fast travel or a means of going really fast across the empty space. I really started to notice it with Kingdom Hearts 3 when they made all of the worlds bigger and open world but then there are ways to just blow through it really fast. I'd much rather have something smaller and denser.
