Tl;dr the $5000 number is practically nonsense and he thinks it is more likely that 16gb cards raise about $100 and the higher ones raise a few hundred. There is also the fact that more chip manufacturing plants are being built state side over the next couple of years, so we might see a bit of a struggle period for a little bit here but it should smooth out.
Used market will just be your friend for a little bit :)
