The first shot was from the SIG P320 that was disarmed. I heard it was a gun that was notorious for misfiring. I looked into it more and yeah, it is as easy as very lightly pressing down on the trigger and tapping the slide. It fails drop tests. There have been several accidents and even one death from it.

If any gun needs to be banned, it's this one. It's not safe. It's a good thing the officer taking it had good gun safety and was pointing it at the floor away from everyone, but clearly it is still the trigger for this shooting.

For anyone who is confused at what they are looking at, you can see the bullet casing being ejected about halfway through the video. It flies off to the right. It took me a few watches to see this too but that's definitely what it is.

Video with sound, though it is much lower res so the casing disappears. The gunshot sound happens at the same time though.

@beardalaxy Shouldn't there be a mark or something in the asphalt where the gun is pointed after it accidentally goes off? Weird that the casing flying away is easier to see than that.

@Jens_Rasmussen with the low resolution and frame rate it is really hard to tell, honestly it's a miracle you can even see the casing. the angle honestly looks to me like it could have gone behind the hat but yeah it's really hard to tell. the angle of the ground isn't exactly conducive to showing if there was a mark left there, either.

even with a high frame rate camera and much higher resolution on a close up, debris is usually only going to be visible for a few frames at best. the type of asphalt and whether it was hollow point or FMJ could even change how visible a shot could be. FMJ is much cheaper but it should only be used for ranges, not for self defense, because it doesn't explode on impact. that would lower the amount of debris being kicked up from the shot. i wouldn't be surprised if the guy carrying a loaded gun while interfering with federal agents and then resisting arrest without telling them he has a gun is too stupid to know that, though.

you can check out this demolition ranch video, he shoots at asphalt roof shingles with a 9mm in it. video is at 60fps and has slow mo footage. even then, the smoke puff is only available for a few frames. you can only see the muzzle flash on the deagle. different type of asphalt obviously, but i don't think it is something that we would have been able to see in this video. it's at a lower frame rate and a lower resolution.

this might be surprising to hear, but guns are a lot more exciting in movies and games than in real life. a lot of people are scared to shoot guns because of it and then they go shoot and it's no big deal. it's not that theatrical most of the time.
