I am a Restore Britain member. I signed up the first weekend it launched on the basis it would be delivering on policy and letting bigger juggernauts ride the political waves. Yesterday's announcement of Rupert Lowe turning RB into a political party was not the right way to go, in my opinion.
I like Rupert and the work he has tried to do with the Rape Gang Inquiry. I appreciate the fact 10% of the nation would likely vote for his party. I envy Great Yarmouth for having a hard working MP that I wish could be replicated within my constituency. However, in aiming to provide a 'real alternative' to the likes of Reform and the Tories (we don't talk about Homeland and Patriotic Alternative), what it actually provides is the creation of yet another client group that will take the hopium and not learn from past disappointments. They will be quashed and contorted into a shape deemed acceptable by the Establishment, lest they remain a single-digit ballot option like the English Democrats and SDP.
However, I see people like Morgoth and Steve Laws have found themselves stuck in vibe politics. It is unlikely a Restore Britain government would be able to perform anything it wishes to do on the basis that those who hold real power will not allow them to. It is more likely we will continue to get what we deserve with disposable 'talent' while those pulling the strings remain unmoved.
If you were there when RB launched its croudsourced policymaking platform, you'd know the amount of slop coming out; a broad range of 'nice to haves' that were too light on details to be seriously considered as policy.
There is no amount of 'our guys' who can right this ship without building anew. The right struggle to assemble and do just that, instead opting to remain individualist and talking about topics deemed 'safe'. They are doomed to forever be contained, thinking they're moving the Overton Window because they feel they can talk about certain things without funny looks. You cannot discuss your way out of decline.
So no, Restore Britain will not save Britain. No amount of political influencers can convince me otherwise.
