@creamqueen I don't mean to shill for “cloud” storage but flash storage isn't reliable either. If you don't power it on for long enough, the data becomes damaged.

@mikuphile @creamqueen how long is long enough and how much damage is too much damage? i found a ten year old flash drive a couple years ago and everything on it was still exactly as it was. at least there weren't any files that were corrupted beyond being usable.

@beardalaxy @creamqueen A few months ago I found an old flash drive from like 2013. It wouldn't recognize the filesystem anymore.
