Thoughts on using the p-word in art? 🤔

@FarTooHorny really not a fan. I'd rather it just say "lolicon" instead.

@beardalaxy Interesting, I've never thought about using lolicon or shotacon like that before. Clever workaround that's not as harsh/crass as the p word

@FarTooHorny i mean, that's what they say in anime isn't it? "senpai is a gross lolicon!" etc. i know that in-universe they could be interchangeable sometimes, but it really just rubs me the wrong way when i'm engaging with a fictional medium and i get slapped across the face with "you're such a pedo!" i don't like that line getting crossed. if i see artists doing that kind of thing frequently i'll unfollow/mute them.

@beardalaxy Ah I've never really seen it done in anime, I don't watch too many where that would happen in.

Do you think you'd have the same reaction to something like "Oh you like little girls, huh?" or is that also a bit too on the nose?

@FarTooHorny nah that's fine for me. The word 'pedo" is just really loaded, and I guess that's why some people like seeing it since it is more taboo. I think it kind of conflates loli with pedophilia and that's not something I can really get behind.

@FarTooHorny there's still some context/nuance to it, but that's my general stance. I wouldn't expect someone writing a novel like Lolita to use "lolicon" as a drop-in replacement, you know what I mean? But if it's a loli drawing and she's like, flashing her panties at a guy calling him a pedo, that rubs me the wrong way and I think it attracts a certain kind of person I don't want anything to do with.

Just my personal thoughts. I know a lot of people probably don't care as much. Imo they *should* care because I think it makes the community worse, and starts to shift it away from otaku and weeb shit into actual pedo territory, but I digress.
