Same thing with Bruce Timm and Batman the Animated Series (OG Harley Quinn) and Sonoda Kenichi and Gunsmith Cats. Guys making characters they want to bang often end up creating epic works.
@heavens_feel I don't have the stomach to read what that person wrote but aren't we just accepting the 'pervert' label without any criticism? Were the master of the ancient and renaissance worlds perverts for manifesting perfect beauty? To me this is a postmodern/Marxist framing. Bringing beauty into the world is not an act of perversion, it is an act of healing. As for the 'wanting to bang' aspect, beauty tends to have that effect, but it cannot be reduced to it.
