my roommate was showing me some of witch hat atelier and holy shit, it doesn't have dubtitles?! he was watching the dub and the subtitles didn't match at all. they were saying the same thing but slightly differently.

@beardalaxy@gameliberty.club are dubtitles that common? i honestly only really notice when the subtitle timing doesn't match and i can only think of one show off the top of my head that did that
(witch hat atelier is great though, you'd probably like it)

@rosey i thought they were, i've seen it a lot of times lol. in anime and video games where japanese is the original language. edgerunners and silent hill f were both like that, for instance. granted, i don't watch a whole lot of anime so maybe i'm just finding them in the wrong places lol. i feel like they usually just plop the english dub's subtitles down and call it good instead of doing an independent translation.

i'm sure i would like it. i'm sure there are plenty of anime that i would like. but the truth is that i don't watch a lot of it, at all. i'm a fake weeb. i haven't even watched the second season of nagatoro or kanna's dragon maid movie yet...
