ideology of people who draw:

artist: offers everything for free, only strives for attention, does create for the sake of creation only...

painter: censors stuff, paywalls stuff, draws for money only...

ergo:

artists are socialists (and i mean that in a good way!)

painters are capitalists (yes, that's something you should NOT be proud of!)

without judging morally, what group do you count yourself to?

for clarification:

i do NOT want to value the morality of your way of living!

if you are a painter, then that's just your way of life - some people just take this route to pay the bills, which is completely fine by me; but if you only draw for money, you can't really call yourself an artist in my opinion...

art, in my ideology has to come purely from the heart and there can't be put a monetairy value on it...

you wouldn't call the guy who paint's your walls an artist either, right?

ye, i know michelangelo painted the sistine chapel, and he is generally considered an true artist...

but remember! michelangelo kicked out the pope until the ceiling was finished, and he even had the gut's to put some butts infront of the popes direct view to mock him...

there are subtle nuances on this topic indeed...

i'm not saying a painter can't be an artist and vise versa, but you gotta consider your true intentions of drawing...

@beardalaxy when michelangelo created the ceiling he drew gods bare butt in a way that it points directly at the altar where pope julius the 2nd sat during conclave...

he did this to get revenge for the way the pope threaded him...

@murawa @beardalaxy

Of course, he didn't want to be painting anyway. He was a sculptor! He considered his drawing skills to be mainly useful in making studies for sculptures.

Also at one point he threatened to fuck off to Constantinople to work for the Sultan. Doing what, I am far from sure.
