@Ghislaine Alan Moore is still salty about it, coping and seething about the lack of "media literacy" among those who sympathize with Rorschach.

Rorschach was supposed to be a jab at The Question, a libertarian character and a softer less extreme version of Mr A, both created by Steve Ditko.
You can see the uncompromising mindset of Rorschach in Mr A's speech.
Rorschach is just Mr A, but not as sophisticated, homeless, and stinky, so you're not supposed to like him.

It's not uncommon for leftists to create something they hate, in an attempt to parody or satirize the opposite of their beliefs, just for everyone else to love it.
Funny how that works.

@coded_artist @Ghislaine I think alan moore might just perhaps be some sort of gay bitch
@coded_artist @Ghislaine "Heh, my new character Archie Bunker will put those racists in their place! When they see how dumb they are, it'll blow their minds!"
"Lol this Archie guy is great!"
"DAMMIT okay let me try again, this time I'll make the parents the good ones, that must have been the problem-"
"Alex is great, hey who's this Michael J. Fox guy, he should be in more stuff"
:suicide:
@coded_artist @Ghislaine basically this, its assumed the author started with sensible priors but he was just trying to be a jerk and fuck with a character by another artist he hated but he never actually appreciated the human motivations that made people like the character in the first place. he didn't even have to like them, he just had to understand them, but he didn't and he created something that was compelling for reasons he didn't understand and hated
@sun @coded_artist @Ghislaine Maybe the author might hate himself for his past wrongdoings, like Bill in The Eltingville Club (from the timeskip followup comic).
@sun @coded_artist @Ghislaine i wonder if it's the same phenomenon that makes so many depict fascism as a basically perfect system, it's just that nazis are needlessly cruel for no real reason (like in the 'man in the high castle' show or the wolfenstein games).

Dune also seems to be a smaller case of this, Herbert said it's supposed to be a warning against charismatic leaders, but then he makes his leaders objectively right and save humanity.
@lain @coded_artist @Ghislaine has anyone ever written a book about how nazis became the ultimate bad guy? its really interesting because it must have happened some time between when actual ww2 vets were laughing at hogans heroes and zoomers who never experienced actual trauma in their entire life not being able to cope with even references to them
@sun @lain @coded_artist Probably in the 60s/70s with the invention of the holocaust
@lain @coded_artist @Ghislaine @sun i imagine finance et all would not allow you to tell alt future stories of nazis that are based on the point of view of the NSDAP.
@lain @Ghislaine @coded_artist @sun i suspect (for a while now) people find the old imperial structuers appealing because they are honest, humans grew up with and basically default to those over the past 2,000 years, and they answer questions that liberalism doesn't do.

you can argue that being a farming serf sucks. and it probably does. though it also means most of the hard existential questions someone else has already taken care of and you just get up and farm dirt.

liberal systems obsess about alienation caused by capital while ignoring that the liberal systems also bury individuals in mountains of unwanted variety to figure out by themselves how to survive.

(this is not an endorsement its just observation that people keep gravitating back to imperial structures with strong hierarchical layers and obvious separations of duties.)
@coded_artist @Ghislaine I remember The Question being absolutely fucking hilarious and unhinged in the justice league cartoobn
@coolboymew @coded_artist @Ghislaine it's an entertaining depiction but not accurate to the character, its kind of similar though in the sense that the people writing him focused on things like conspiracy theories which reveals and underlying contempt for what they think the character represented. again I don't care, it's a fun depiction.
@coolboymew @coded_artist @Ghislaine there's a miniseries comic of the question where he's basically high on psychedelics all the time and interacts with superman, it was pretty good
