Teachers might be some of the most retarded humans on the planet. I don't know if anybody remembers hooked on phonics, but my mom started that with me around 3. By third grade, I was testing for the GATE program (that's some weird shit) while reading and comprehending at a sophomore in college level. I'm no genius, I just know how to learn anything

@7a6576649f478bd1efb8b8bc99cacb23ef5e11b7d8524cf6b1750d939315c0b5 In my parents generation (Russian, gen X), it is assumed that a child should be able to read and write before they go to school.
4~5 year old kids should already be reading, and slowly writing.
Takes much longer to improve handwriting, but the basics can and should be learned in kindergarten, or earlier if the kid is up to it.
