@verita84 Season 1 looked sensational, Season 2 was a big downgrade, but hardly all that bad in the grand scheme of things. Season 3 is an atrocity.

@ChristiJunior @verita84 The first season was animated by Madhouse, while the second and third seasons were produced by J.C.Staff.

Madhouse's resume is legendary (pic related).

While the best anime J.C.Staff ever made was Excel Saga, which isn't known for its animation quality, and was almost certainly a fluke in every way.
> The lyrics for the opening theme Love (Loyalty) (「愛(忠誠心)」, Ai (Chūseishin)) were written "on the train, five minutes before the deadline" - director Shinichi Watanabe.

@ChristiJunior @verita84 I only watched season 1 so I can't say for certain.
I watched a clip, and it looks like a lot of CG, experimenting I hope?

I really don't understand how every studio known to man manages to screw up the frame rate of 3D animation.

This shit was already figured out decades ago.
ReBoot first aired circa 1994.

Homos will defend this shit saying it's hard to make it look smooth when combined with traditional animation, but Planetes (2003) had 3D models for Earth and a space station, and it slowly, and SMOOTHLY rotated.

These days, even full 3D shows have stutters, from the small screen such as Kemono Friends, to the big screen like Batman Ninja.

@coded_artist @verita84 Honestly, the Dark Young CGI didn't actually offend me nearly as much as a spell that instantly killed 70,000 people being illustrated by like a few dozen copy/paste soldiers dropping dead.

@ChristiJunior @verita84 They definitely could have added some flair to that, but I don't know how that looked in the manga.
Could be the director's fault. :peepoShrug:

@ChristiJunior @verita84 Should've looked more like the art people are making of it.
This looks more like a top tier spell.

@coded_artist @verita84 Overlord is actually a light novel, so they were free to go nuts with it:

>A black wind blew, racing past the Kingdom’s army, which had just finished changing its formation.

>No, there was no physical wind blowing. Neither the scattered weeds growing on the plains or the hairs on the heads of the Kingdom’s soldiers had been touched.

>There were 70,000 men in the left wing of the Kingdom’s army.

>Every single one of them was slain in an instant.

Meanwhile, here's the anime:

Nimble really was tasked with some heavy lifting in that scene, because I counted maybe 70 corpses, not the 70,000 he claimed to have seen.
