@coolboymew E;R started a playthrough recently and had his mind blown in the trial scene..
@ChristiJunior @coolboymew He went in expecting to be disappointed, and got turned around real fast.
Said he'll keep playing.
Honestly such a good game.
The princess speech in the ruined future as the theme begins to play is absolute cinema.
Did anyone make anything even close to that in the last several decades?
@ChristiJunior @coolboymew I keep seeing you gooning for Pyra, so I can't trust you to be unbiased on this.
Just saw some gameplay of Xenoblade Chronicles definitive edition, look like an MMO in terms of gameplay.
No thanks.
I prefer something with a bit more action.
Which title would you recommend?
@coded_artist@gameliberty.club @coolboymew@shitposter.world Yeah, that whole thing was pretty unexpected, since everything (for the most part) leading up to that was what we see in any stock mainstream or indie JRPG.
I played most of it via emulator on Android, but something happened when I took a break and I think I lost my data for it, so I haven't had the motivation to go through all that again. I got up to the point with the kind of cloud city stuff. Specifically, I think the last thing I was doing was crawling through vents...
How close to the end was I?
@Calvin @coolboymew Sounds like the ancient civilization of magic users, that's pretty close to the end.
About 70%~80% in.
@wertimer @coolboymew Yeah, they are.
We're in a bit of a drought for some genres.
As far as mind blowing goes:
The Outer Wilds (2019) has some moments, and is overall a brilliant experience.
Paradise Killer (2020) has an intro that's to die for, and story and worldbuilding that's so good you will overlook the horrible character art.
So it's been half a decade since I can say my mind was blown, even a little bit.
I'm playing The Art of Reflection, and Doom 3 BFG edition, and those are good, but not mind blowing.
@wertimer @coolboymew Some genres are doing well.
Souls-like, Rogue-like, and Mundane Simulators.
Survival Crafters are doing fine too, Abiotic Factor is really good, and Enshrouded is also fun with tolerable woke shit.
My favorite genre is Spider-man / Prototype style games.
Not sure what to call that.
Action games with open worlds and fun traversal.
GTA with super powers.
Prototype 1 came out in 2009.
That blew my mind when I found out I can accuse soldiers of being the target, when in disguise.
Kino.
